Announcing: WILD WEST HERO

I've been going on about it for long enough. Today I'm finally ready to reveal the details of my next release Wild West Hero.

BLURB: 1969. A cast of handsome actors gather in Spain to film an action packed spaghetti western. For newcomer Eddie Drake, it’s the chance of a life time. After an undistinguished career in television, he’s finally landed a lead role in a movie. Eddie’s modern good looks perfectly represent the new breed of wild west hero. His agent confidently predicts he could be the next Clint Eastwood.

For Hank Kinney the movie marks a depressing career low. He’s been a leading man in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters for over twenty years. But now he’s reduced to making low budget European trash. It’s a come down too far.

Eddie idolised Hank when he was growing up but barely recognises this bitter hell raiser as the idol of his teens. Hank still possesses the matinee idol good looks that made him a star, but alcohol and regret have made him an angry, difficult figure. Eddie’s focus is on the film. He can’t get sidetracked by Hank’s messy emotions, no matter how hot he finds him. He already has the distraction of Sandro, his sexy Italian co-star. Young, ballsy and damned near insatiable – Sandro is a full time stud.

Under blazing heat and the tension of a tight schedule, tempers and passion runs high. Behind the scenes, the ride is wilder than anything the film makers could bring to the screen.

So there you have it. The book is in pretty good shape. All major revisions complete, it's at the proof reading stage and everything is looking good for the 21st February publication. That date isn't entirely written in stone – there's always something that could go wrong – but it's pretty realistic. Disasters aside I can't see any reason that it won't be ready for then.

I must admit I love this book. It's possibly my favourite (though I shouldn't have such things) of the stories I've produced since going it alone as an indie author. Maybe because I'm so interested in the movies that came out of Italy in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Not just westerns but their thrillers and horror movies. There's something quite surreal and other worldly about those films, I can't get enough. But its the cowboys that really stir my loins. Those sexy Latin stunners in their chaps and hats; deeply tanned and handsome, taking a good beating. Wow. I'll put together a gallery of some of my favourite cowboys in the run up to the books release and post them right here.

Other news: In between drafts of Wild West Hero and plans for the paperback publication of collected novellas, I've been working on a short story for my third collection. I'm tentatively planning a follow up to Bedtime Stories and Body Language later this year. There's no release date in mind yet, I'm just writing stories between longer projects, and will go ahead with the book once I've got 10 to 12 really strong pieces. Currently there are 6 stories that are good to go. I haven't finished the latest yet but have a good feeling that it will make the grade. It might even be the title story – but its too early for spoilers.

Though here's a sneak peak of what I've been working on today:

There's only one week left on the Watching Henry Lawton price promotion. Don't miss out.

That's it for this week. Miserable weekend of weather ahead. I hope things are better where ever you are. Take care and stay safe.

Others News: I've completed the first draft my novella Wild West Hero. Set in 1969 the story takes place in Spain on the movie set of a Spaghetti western. Writing this has been so much fun. Not least cause it gave me an excuse to watch dozens of Euro westerns from that era and reveal in the beauty of guys like Franco Nero and Terence Hill. I'm already working on the second draft and hope to publish the ebook very soon – mid to late February. Wild West Hero is currently around 28,000 words, the perfect length for a sexy read.

I'm also working towards a paperback collection of the novellas that have previously only published in ebook format. This will include: Wild West Hero, Watching Henry Lawton, The Leather and the Flesh and Midnight Screening. The target for this late spring. I'll update with news on this project over the coming weeks.

I've currently got lots of other ideas brewing for later this spring. I'm already working on another longer story and developing the characters for a new novel. My note book is crammed with new ideas and I'm really excited about fleshing them all out.

A NEW COVER FOR HENRY LAWTON

I've just published the 2nd ebook edition of my novella Watching Henry Lawton. The content of the book remains the same, but the big difference is a brand new cover. Why? Well the character of Henry Lawton is based on a real person. When the book first came out last year I struggled to find a model who personified the dark, voluptuous good looks of the character. While the guy on the 1st edition is an undeniable hottie, he was never really my Henry. But while I was looking at models for the cover my next book Wild West Hero, I came across a young man who is as close as double for the gorgeous Henry as I've ever seen. I couldn't resist redoing the book with my new discovery. Watching Henry Lawton now has exactly the cover I want for it. I hope you agree.

Wild West Hero is almost done and on track to hit the estimated 25-30K word count. Having written novels and short stories, I find that the novella is the perfect length for erotic fiction, as both a reader and a writer. It offers just enough room for character, story development and some scorching sex scenes, without padding or repetition. The first draft will be finished in the next week and I can't wait to share it. I won't waste any time with this one and intend to get right on with the second draft after a couple of days off. My provisional publication date is mid February. I'll pin that down to a definite date once the second draft is finished.

I've got some serious price promotions planned over the coming weeks so check back on Friday 17th January for information on the first special offer.

Regards

Thom

MIDNIGHT SCREENING

Happy New Year everyone. Time for a long overdue update. There never seems to be enough time to fit in all the things I want to do. However my big news this weekend is the release of my new ebook Midnight Screening.

BLURB:  In his youth Blake Powell was an actor, the handsome star of a dozen teen movies. Now in his forties, he still possesses the matinee idol good looks that made him a star back then. But movies and acting are all in the past, these days Blake is an acclaimed chef and restaurateur. Despite the success of his second career, his personal life is not so steady. His boyfriend Charlie is into drink, drugs and boys half his age. Blake has had enough.

The invitation to be guest of honour at a special screening of one of his movies is just what Blake needs: a short break away from Charlie. One of his early films The Burning Man has transcended its roots as a cheap horror film to become a cult favourite. Two decades later the film has reached a new audience of enthusiastic fans.

Twenty year old student Tim Aston is one of those fans. From the first time he saw the film, the naked image of screen hunk Blake has fuelled a million fantasies. Tim can't resist the opportunity. The late night screening will allow him to meet his idol at last.

Only Blake is not the same as the fresh faced hunk on screen. Older, smarter, sexier; Blake Powell is more handsome than ever. And Tim's fantasies are about to come true.

A scorching novella from the author of The Sex Cabaret and The Leather and the Flesh. Approximately 13K words.

Available at AmazonUK and Amazon USA

I loved writing this short book. A bit like Tim in the story I'm a huge fan of horror movies, especially those from the 1970s and 80s and I've been to tonnes of these cult screenings. As well as the scares I have a real soft spot for all those hunks who stared in low budget horror films at the start of their careers. I love watching new interviews on DVD to see how well (or not) some of those hot jocks have aged. Blake Powell is one of the lucky ones – he's even more gorgeous now than he was then. So Midnight Screening is my love letter to all those hot guys of 80s horror.

OTHER NEWS:

WILD WEST HERO: Currently I'm half way through a novella length tribute to my other guilty pleasure – cowboy movies, specifically the spaghetti westerns of the 1960s and 70s. Those old cowboy films features some of the most beautiful men I've ever seen, guys in their prime like Franco Nero and Terence hill. Hot Italian men dressed as cowboys – wow – it doesn't get much sexier than that. Wild West Hero will probably come in around 25 to 30K words and will be available as an ebook in the spring.

I'm also working towards to a paperback compilation volume of my stories and novellas for later this year. I love ebooks and the freedom they have given to indie writers but nothing compares to holding a physical book. I'm still working out the practicalities of cost and length but will post more news when I have it.

RISK ADDICTION: this was book I announced last year.  Risk Addiction is a full length novel and was conceived as the first part of a trilogy.  Despite completing a full first draft, this book is going to need extensive rewrites before I'm happy with it.  The creative spark seems to have gone out of this project.  I haven't lost all hope for it but it's not exciting me in the way it should.  Hopefully it can be reviewed in 2014 but I will never put out a book I'm less than 100% happy with, so Risk Addiction may be one of those projects that goes into the bottom drawer.

So that brings me up to date. I'm really excited about Midnight Screening and hope people enjoy it. My resolution for 2014 is to keep writing and experimenting. Trying new things is the key to staying fresh for me. Some things work – like Midnight Screening, others don't – like Risk Addiction, but I won't get bogged down by failure. Got to move forward and find more sexy guys and situations to write about.

Best wishes to everyone for 2014.
